How to Decorate Your Farmhouse

Farmhouse style is a blend of traditional country style and modern touches. Decorating your farmhouse can be a lot of fun. You can do anything from touching up a dresser to getting custom horse artwork to add a farmhouse feel to your home.

Mix And Match Furniture

Many people get the same type of furniture for their farmhouse. However, you can change things up by mixing and matching furniture. Green painted wood chairs and wicker diner chairs are examples of the furniture that you can purchase.

Decorate a Dresser

A nice dresser is something that can be passed down from generation to generation. It also makes a nice addition to your farmhouse. If you already have a dresser, then you don't necessarily have to go out and buy a new one. You can decorate one that you already have by painting it. You can also put plants on top of it.

Add a Farmhouse Table

Your family and guests will love to gather around a nice table. There are several types of tables that you can buy. However, you may want to buy one that is made out of wood. This material can last for a long time.

However, if a new table isn’t in your budget, you can buy a secondhand wood table and paint it to look better and give it a unique look.

Add Artwork

Artwork will make any place look better. You can get custom horse artwork. You can also add other farm related paintings to your home.

Use Natural Carpet

Natural carpet will keep your home warm and cozy. It can also improve indoor air quality. Some of the options that you have for natural carpet include seagrass and sisal.

Install Open Shelves

Open shelves make it easier for you to get to what you need. They can also make a small space appear bigger. Additionally, open shelves are a cost-effective option.

Colored Pencil Drawing as Fine Art

Any medium can be used to create fine art — even colored pencil drawings. Fine art is defined by the skill and accomplishment of a piece and not the materials it is made of. With a few colored pencils, paper, an eraser, a sharpener and a graphite pencil, any artist can create a masterpiece of a colored pencil drawing. One could argue that a true master of their art can get by with even less.

Colored pencils offer the familiarity of a graphite pencil drawing with an unlimited range of color shading options. The process is no different than creating any other composition.

Start With the Base

Begin your composition with a pencil drawing. This will be the outline you’ll use to flesh out a full image. Take your time, and draw with light lines. This is only meant to be a guide, and much of it will not appear above your final layers. Any accidental smudges and lines outside of the main drawing can be erased.

Block out the Composition

Use your pencil outlining to block out key shapes and tones. During this step, you should take the time to organize the composition flow. Sometimes an accidental shape makes its way into the final design. Only use the graphite pencil to flesh out shades and tones.

Add Color and Layer

Start filling in the colors of the drawing. Select a primary color theme and set aside the pencils you need. Draw over the graphite shadings. A good colored pencil will blend well. Keep at it until the main imagery is fleshed out.

Use a Complementary Color

Refine your piece a bit more by finding a creative way to use the complementary color to your main color choice. Just take a look at the color wheel and find the color on the opposite side of your main color. For example if you chose yellow as the main color, try blending in purple.

Keep at it, and soon you’ll have a colored pencil work of art.

How to Paint a Beautiful Animal Portrait

Animal portrait painting is a great way to create art of your favorite animal or favorite pet. If you’ve never created an animal portrait painting before, it can be a little intimidating to get started. But you shouldn’t be afraid! Once you finish your painting, you’ll have something unique you’ve created that you can be proud of. Even if it doesn’t turn out perfect, there’s always next time.

But for this time, here are some tips to give the best effort possible:

Pick Your Materials

There are a lot of ways to create an animal portrait painting. Are you going to paint with oil, watercolor or something else? First you’ll need to get the proper materials, brushes, painting canvas and anything else you might need to create a beautiful piece of art.

Sketch It Out

No matter what medium you plan on using, it helps to sketch it out first. A sketch allows you to make some mistakes until you’re satisfied with your lines. Once you finish your sketch and are happy with what you’ve created, you can move on to the next step.

Work on Your Background

Before painting the animal, you should paint your background. If it’s your first time painting, it might be better to make a static background, such as a single color background. If you’re feeling creative, though, you can try to add details and other interesting elements to your background.

Work on the Eyes

The eyes are the windows to the soul for animals and humans alike! The eyes are going to be one of the most important parts to capture, so don’t be afraid to look up reference photos of the animal you’re painting so you can get as close as possible.

Paint the Fur, Skin or Scales

Once you have the eyes, it’s time to move on to the rest of your animal! Whether they have fur, skin or scales, you’ll want to take your time replicating the texture and look. Furry animals are a good place to start when you’re just beginning to make animal portrait paintings. For fur, you can layer different colors to create texture and depth.

Commission an Animal Portrait Painting

If you have a picture of the animal you’d like a portrait of, you can always commission one online! Just send in your photo, make your requests and wait for your masterpiece to arrive in the mail.

What Gallery Representation Means for an Artist’s Career

Not too long ago, it was possible to collect an original painting by the Texas-based artist Mauro C. Martinez for under $500. “He was painting small studies and selling them for $50 to $100 out of his studio,” said Unit London co-founder Joe Kennedy. The U.K. gallery signed Martinez in 2020 after spotting the emerging painter’s cheeky remixes of internet culture on Instagram. “We were just blown away by the work,” said Kennedy read more

4 Best Reasons to Buy A Custom Painting from a Photo

Hunting for a gift for someone you love and care about can sometimes be a little difficult, especially if you want to give them something special. One unique gift idea you could go with next time is a custom photo to painting. Here are some of the top reasons why a custom photo to painting makes for an unforgettable gift.

It’s Super Unique

Ever wonder what to get the person who seems to have everything? A custom photo to painting is the answer. It’s a unique gift that they probably won’t be expecting. Even if they already have one, you’d still likely be picking a photo that means something to them and that isn’t like their other one. When you give one of these, you don’t have to worry about them having a duplicate.

Allows for Customization

Since it’s a custom painting, you can take anything that isn’t ideal about the original photo and make it better. Is there a random person accidentally photo bombing in the background? The artist can take them out. Maybe it’s a great picture but the lighting wasn’t ideal. That’s something an artist can fix. Any imperfections or changes you want to make are usually doable for the artist making your custom photo to painting.

Great Decoration

If you have a photo, you can frame it, but it doesn’t always look like an actual decor piece. This is especially the case if your photo isn’t a resolution that allows you to make it big enough to be a statement piece. With a custom photo to painting, these restrictions no longer apply. You can take someone’s favorite old photo and turn it into something that they can hang up on their wall and treasure for years to come.

Affordable

Sometimes custom gifts can get pretty pricey, but custom photo to painting art is actually surprisingly affordable. You can give the person a gift that is timeless, beautiful, and that doesn’t break the bank for you. A win-win!

Choosing Where to Get Your Custom Photo to Painting Piece

There are plenty of options to get custom paintings online. Make sure to choose a reputable dealer that is known for producing high-quality work!
